The SSBA award is one of the few where the Judges are students - not writers, teachers or librarians. I shall soon be asking Year 7s, 8s & 9s to volunteer as PCC student Judges, so watch this space.
This year's Short List will be announced later this month - have a look at the previous years' to see the type of books selected - and of course the winners.
:: Review Sites ::
Not sure what to read next? These may give you some ideas - or see the Authors below.
ACHUKA
An independent review site. It has interviews, reviews, author links and more. Excellent.
cool-reads
Reviews written for 10 - 15yr olds by 10 - 15yr. There's a mixture of detailed 'review' and snappy one-liners plus star rating system. You can search by Author, Title or Genre.
KidsReads
Very useful for American writers such as Louis Sachar. Plus, test your knowledge with the interactive Trivia quizzes.
LoveReading4Kids
Although a commercial bookseller's site, it has excellent reviews and news about new books. I have only just access it myself, so more info later.
Reading Matters
You can search via: Author, Title or Genre lists, or you can try a Lucky Dip or opt for 'Bookchooser'.
tBk MAG current copy in the magazine rack, plus reference copy shelved at JNF 820. With reviews, interviews, quizzes and more it's just the thing to while away a break or lunchtime.
Also, 'Author Zone' at JNF 820 for information about the authors you like to read.
