Bullying should not be viewed as a 'fact of life'.
It is not the odd disagreement or bit of hassle at school or work. It is persistent, intentional behaviour that leaves the victim feeling powerless and defenceless.
Bullying can take many forms including:
Verbal
- name-calling, taunting, mocking, making offensive comments
Physical
- kicking, hitting, pushing, taking or interfering with belongings
Cyber
- text messaging, emailing
Social
- excluding people from groups, gossiping, spreading hurtful and
untruthful rumours

Anti-Bullying Alliance
"The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) was founded by NSPCC and NCB
in 2002. ABA brings together over 50 national organisations from the
voluntary and private sectors, LEAs, professional associations and
the research community into one network to work together to reduce
bullying and create safer environments in which children and young
people can live, grow, play and learn."
Anti-Bullying Network
"The Scottish Executive established the Network in 1999 so that teachers, parents and young people could share ideas about how bullying should be tackled. ... please note that the Network only deals with bullying related to school communities - and its consequences."
